Upon completing residency in 1987, Dr. McMullan became interested in allergy in 1988, when she realized that surgery does not help every patient with chronic sinus, ear or throat infections. Searching for alternatives to the surgical approach, she then returned to study with her mentor, Dr. William Wilson, in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Wilson, a practicing ENT surgeon, had been including allergy in his practice for over fifty years. He introduced her to the world of allergy and her approach to ear, nose and throat problems was broadened with this new knowledge.

Dr. McMullan was educated in Virginia and completed her residency in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Colorado in Denver in 1987. She has practiced in Colorado and Montana. She is Board Certified by the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and is sub-certified in allergy by the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. She became interested in allergy because of the number of patients who had upper airway problems including chronic sinusitis, asthma, and ear infections, and food issues that
