Patient Information for pollen Avoidance:
Stay Indoors as much as possible. Avoid going outside when pollen levels are high such as on dry and windy days, late evenings and early mornings. Physicians should have access to pollen level information or levels may be available through the local news.
Keep house windows closed at all times.
Use air conditioning to reduce pollen levels b re-circulating indoor air.
Use an air treatment system such as an electrostatic air prifier or H.E.P.A. filter air cleaner particularly in the bedroom.
Do not plant trees and shrubs near house.

Keep lawn short. Mowing should be performed by a non-allergic family member.
Eliminate weeds by cutting down or using weed killer (performed by a non-allergic family member).
Avoid direct contact with indoor and outdoor flowers.
Wear sunglasses outside to reduce eye irritation caused by pollen.
Use a filtering mask when exposure cannot be avoided.
Shower, wash hair and change into clean clothes after being outside.
When driving, keep windows closed. Use car air conditioner to re-circulate air inside the car.
Plan vacations when pollen levels are high to areas where offending pollens are less prevalent.
Avoid unpaved parking areas and constructions sites.
